Junk Removal in a Working Fishing Village

Cortez is an unincorporated village on Sarasota Bay in Manatee County, at the mainland end of the Cortez Road bridge to Anna Maria Island. It is one of the few remaining working fishing villages in Florida, and its core has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Cortez Historic District since 1995.

The district runs between Cortez Road, 119th Street West, Sarasota Bay, and 124th Street Court West, and its listing counts 97 contributing buildings built between 1889 and 1944. In older homes, the crew checks door widths, steps, and the path to the truck during the estimate and plans how each piece comes out without damage.

Cortez Bridge Construction

FDOT is replacing the Cortez Bridge with a 65-foot fixed span. The work covers about 0.9 mile of Cortez Road, from Gulf Drive in Bradenton Beach to 123rd Street West in Cortez, and is planned in phases with traffic shifts running into 2028.

If your property is near the east end of the bridge, let us know about any lane shifts or access changes on your street when you book so the crew can plan the approach and where to park.

Full-Service Junk Removal

From a single chair to a full house, the crew does the lifting and loading. Services we handle in and around the village:

Bulk Pickup in Unincorporated Manatee County

Because Cortez sits outside city limits, trash service runs through Manatee County Utilities. Under the county’s bulk collection pilot (May 1, 2026 through April 30, 2027), residential customers can set out up to two bulk items once a month on their regular service day. Appliances and tires have to be scheduled in advance, and each property gets one annual bulk collection of up to 10 cubic yards of the same material.

That covers a couple of pieces a month. For a full cleanout, mixed loads, or items that have to come out of the house, the crew handles it in one visit. You get a volume-based price in person before any work starts.

Boats, Trailers, and Hazardous Items

In a boating community this comes up often enough to say plainly: we don’t tow, buy, or haul vehicles of any kind, including boats, boat trailers, and motors on trailers. We also don’t take propane tanks, fuel, chemicals, or other hazardous materials. Paint depends on the area, so ask before the appointment.

Manatee County residents can drop household hazardous waste and electronics at the Lena Road Landfill free of charge. The landfill is at 3333 Lena Road, east of I-75 off State Road 64.
